Get to Know Amanda

This isn't important -- but incase you're curious...

Amanda Ahlman hates writing in third person. She feels like it's narrating her own life and she'd rather have Matthew McConaughey take over. Please read the rest of this section in his voice and southern cadence...... It'd be a lot cooler if you did.

Alright, alright, alright... lets get into it.

Amanda's full-time job is being extremely sarcastic -- However she's also an interior designer. She earned a Bachelor of Interior Design degree from Utah State University and a Master of Interior Architecture degree from Arizona State University. She could learn about design, draw, scheme and create all day.

Amanda loves to design buildings, rooms, furniture, and textiles that keep life meaningful and playful. She believes good design focuses less on how something looks and more on how somethings feels. She believes that the home is a portrait of the soul, and infrastructure is a portrait of the community. Her favorite thing in the world is helping communities and individuals find the things they care about and incorporating all the best bits and pieces into a design that portrays something soulful.

"Above all, think of life as a prototype.  We can conduct experiments, make discoveries, and change our perspectives.  We can look for opportunities to turn processes into projects that have tangible outcomes.  We can learn how to take joy in the things we create whether they take the form of a fleeting experience or an heirloom that will last for generations.  We can learn that reward comes in creation and re-creation, no just in the consumption of the world around us.  Active participation in the process of creation is our right and our privilege.  We can learn to measure the success of our ideas not by our bank accounts but by their impact in the world."
